Cookie Help
First of all, for those of you who do not know what a cookie is, it is a small peice of information
that a website stores on your computer and retrieves the next time you visit that website. Many false
horror stories exist about cookies. They are not 'spyware'. They are not viruses. They cannot allow
your computer to be accessed at remote. All they can do is identify you, and save personal preferences
that you have set, so that the next time you visit the remote website knows whom you are and how you
want it to work.
The vast majority of cookies are what are called 'first-person cookies'. These are created by the
website that you are visiting, and return ONLY to that same website (henceforth called 'originating server').
No other website may access them. Approximately 99% of these are completely harmless and are perfectly fine
to permit. 'Third-person cookies', on the other hand, are created by one server and sent back to a different
one. Most of these are still OK.
Now that you understand a little bit more about cookies, and why most of them are perfectly OK to have,
here is how to check to see if you have disabled them, and if so, re-enable them for UCGSingles.org.
If you are using Internet Explorer version 6.0, you need to go to "Internet Options" under the tools menu.
Other versions of IE will have a similar option, but it may be under the File menu instead.

Go to the Privacy tab. Under IE6, you will see a slider bar allowing you to set what level of cookies are
to be permitted. For best functionality of other websites while still maintaining reasonable security, you
should select the default of "Medium".

If you have selected some higher level, and do not wish to change it, you can also manually allow the system
to permit UCGSingles.org to use any cookies that it needs to. Click on the Edit button in the above image
and you will see a screen similar to the one below.

Type "www.ucgsingles.org" into the Address box as shown above and click the "Allow" button. The result
is shown below.

Now Hit OK twice and try to login again. It should work just fine now. If not, please email singles@ucg.org
for additional assistance.
If you are using Netscape Navigator version 4.x, you need to select the "Preferences" option from the Edit
menu.

Find the Advanced Tab. You want to set Netscape to "Accept all cookies", or "Accept only cookies that get
sent back to the originating server", as shown below.

You should now be able to login without any trouble. If that does not work, please email singles@ucg.org
for additional assisstance.
